Korea travel #10. Seongsu: The most popular neighborhood in South Korea

1. Introduce

Today, I’ll introduce you to,
Seongsu, the hottest and most emotional place in Seoul these days!
It seems to be one of the most popular places for young people to hang out.

Seongsu is known for its proximity to the Han River, which makes for a beautiful night view. The area has undergone extensive redevelopment in recent years, transforming it into a neighborhood with many modern and stunning buildings.

Seongsu used to be known as an industrial area, but now it has a creative vibe with a mix of art and culture. There are many galleries and exhibition spaces where you can see various works of art, as well as cafes and restaurants with unique concepts.

Actually, I’m not a frequent visitor, but I’ve been meeting up with friends in Seongsu a lot lately, so I thought I’d share some of the places I’ve been.
Seongsu is already very famous for foreigners, I saw a lot of them here.

There are many bars, cafes, and restaurants with a youthful, emotional, and quirky vibe, so it’s a must-visit if you’re in Seoul!

2. Nice Restaurants and Yummy places

I. Sungsu_darak (성수다락)

This Sungsu darak specializes in pasta and omelets. Ade is served beautifully in a unique glass. The portions are small but the flavors are good. It’s a popular restaurant, so be prepared for a wait.

II. Ioro bistro (이오로 비스트로)

This is another restaurant that serves several types of pasta and Japanese food. The mentaiko pasta and futomaki are famous. I tried the mentaiko pasta and the Daechang pasta, which were quite delicious. This place is also very popular, so you may have to wait if you visit during mealtime.

III. Daerim Changgo (대림창고)

It seems like the building used to be a factory in the past but has been transformed into a cafe. The interior of the cafe is spacious, and it’s bustling with a large crowd. The sign also gives off an old-fashioned vibe, showcasing the distinctive atmosphere of Seongsu-dong.

They also operate a gallery within the cafe, so there are things to see and explore when you visit.

IV. Jayeondo Sokeum Bbang (자연도 소금빵)

Sokeum Bbang (Salt bread) is a popular salted butter roll in Korea.
In my previous post on Yeongjongdo, I mentioned the best salt bread in the city, and now that it’s open in Seongsu, I thought I’d introduce it again.

If Yeongjongdo is too far away, try it in Seongsu.
It’s really delicious with lots of butter.

V. Saladaeng Temple in Seongsu

There’s a place like this in Seoul?! This is a very unique restaurant with a very unique interior. You have to take a boat to get to the entrance of the restaurant (but you can also walk).

When I tell my friends that there’s a restaurant in Seongsu-dong that takes boats, they’re surprised and want to go.

It’s a Thai restaurant that became famous for this, but the interior is also very cool.
I was impressed. It’s a restaurant with an atmosphere that you don’t usually see in Korea. If you’re looking for something exotic that’s not Korean, this is the place to go.

Have a great trip!
